The Redmagic 12 Pro+ releases in China with the latest Snapdragon Elite Extreme chip
Mobile | SmartphonesThe Redmagic 12 Pro+ releases in China with the latest Snapdragon Elite Extreme chipDespite being one of the few gaming phones out there left, it still packs in the latest and greatest. Image: RedmagicIt almost feels as if gaming phones are a dying breed. From the halcyon days of Xiaomi’s Blackshark, Asus ROG Phones and even the Razer Phones, we’re down to only a few actors in this space.
One of such example of a brand remaining active in this product category is Nubia’s gaming sub-brand Redmagic – it has just released the Redmagic 12 Pro+ in China, with a global release to follow. The Redmagic 12 Pro+ comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Redmagic 12 Pro+ comes with the generational upgrades you’d hope for in a high-end gaming phone – a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the latest and most powerful mobile chip from Qualcomm that was just unveiled last month.
We’ve covered the chipset improvements in our visit to Snapdragon Summit 2026, but to keep it short, the two prime cores have their clock speeds increased to 5.0GHz, alongside a 12% improvement to the Adreno GPU’s performance, and a myriad of AI improvements. Other hardware upgrades come from the 8,400mAh-sized battery, which can be charged via 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The Redmagic 12 Pro+ also comes with the proprietary Redcore R5 chip, which Redmagic says enables ray tracing, “resolution enhancement” of up to 2K (perhaps a nod to upscaling capabilities), and frame interpolation of up to 185Hz across supported titles.
That last one is a necessary feature considering the Redmagic 12 Pro+ has a display refresh rate of 185Hz, which not all titles will natively support. It pairs well with the phone’s Synaptics touch controller, which allows for an average touch sampling rate of 500Hz, with up to 5,000Hz of instantaneous sampling. The new Redmagic phone also comes with an upgraded PC emulator that you can connect your Steam account to, as well as symmetrical stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos certification.
The Redmagic 12 Pro+ features TurboFan 5.0, with speeds going up to 25,550RPM, alongside RGB integration with the cooling system. With all these hardware improvements, Redmagic has sought to fit the 12 Pro+ with similarly beefed up cooling. Alongside TurboFan 5.0, which reaches speeds of up to 25,550RPM, the 12 Pro+ is also fitted with a dual crystal micro-pump that Redmagic says has greater pumping power compared to the last generation, with as little as 20mW of power consumption.
Redmagic has also fitted what it calls an “RGB liquid-cooling system”, where the RGB LEDs on the 12 Pro+ are integrated into the phone’s liquid cooling module. Given all this tech crammed into this phone, it’ll be of a considerably large size and shape, measuring 8.5mm thick and weighing 223g. Still, if you’re in the market for a gaming phone, you’re probably used to these figures by now.
You’d probably also know that cameras aren’t necessarily a big selling point when it comes to devices like these. Indeed, there was no mention of the rear cameras on the Redmagic 12 Pro+. Redmagic did, however, mention that the front cameras are under the display, which, along with the 0.96mm bezel, helps the front panel achieve a 96.3% screen-to-body ratio.
The Redmagic 12 Pro+ has launched in China in three configurations: This is just the Chinese pricing, though. It’ll be released globally as the Redmagic 12 Pro (no plus branding). We don’t know how much the global variants will cost, but we do know that Redmagic will announce global pricing, regional configurations and availability details on 3 November 2026.
